dc.description.abstract | The objective of this research is to analyze the content and the principles of
Chinese novel, “Romance of the Three kingdoms episode 43 : Zhuge Liang disputes
with the Southern Scholars; Lu Su denounced the Majority opinion”, and to apply
this in our working and daily lives.
The study found that Romance of the Three kingdoms episode 43 : Zhuge
Liang disputes with the Southern Scholars; Lu Su denounced the Majority opinion, is
about Lu Su, Marquis Sun Quan invited Zhuge Liang to meet Sun Quan and join Liu
Pei’s army. Whereas Sun Quan received the secret letter from Cou Cou joining him to
destroy Liu Pei. Lu Su disagreed on that idea but more than ๒๐ scholars supported
Sun Quan to surrender to Cou Cou. However, Sun Quan had not decided yet.
When Zhuge Liang met Sun Quan’ scholars, they insulted Liu Pei and Zhunge Liang
but Zhuge Liang replied in smart way; praised Liu Pei as the morality and also abuse
the excellency as the immorality, disgraceful and surrender to evil thief, Cou Cou.
All of the scholars replied nothing. When Zhuge Liang met Sun Quan, he teased
about Sun Quan would defect himself by joining with Cou Cou, which made Sun Quan furious. However, after Sun Quan understood and learned how to win the Cou
Cou, he calmed down but was still worried about the plan. Then lady Wu, came to
Sun Quan and reminded him about his mother’s word; “In Zhou Yu’s counsels your
safety find”.
According to the story, “Romance of the Three kingdoms episode 43 :
Zhuge Liang disputes with the Southern Scholars; Lu Su denounced the Majority
opinion”, there are important principles about self-organization, people management
and job management.
For example, the self-organization and the great character that leaders
showed as grateful, honest, kindness, modesty, generous, competent, intelligent,
patience and endeavor. People need to follow these principles to find success in
their lives. Morality and integrity can win people. The human management, from “Romance of the Three kingdoms episode
43 : Zhuge Liang disputes with the Southern Scholars; Lu Su denounced the Majority
opinion”, the leaders could control their workers and were honest to them. They
strictly punished but also giving compensation as the reward. The leaders always
learn the new things, and where honest, decisive, kind, neutral, supportive to the
lower class, and learned to share. The important principles form this part is “If you
treat people well, they willingly work with you”.
The job management, the leaders from the Romance of the Three kingdoms
had the important ethic to perform their management as thinking about the majority,
always have a plan and held frequent meetings, put the right man to the right job,
where keen, listened to the others, analytical, prepare manpower and governed
righteousness for the benefits of the people. The best virtues for job management
are working for majority benefits, having a plan, listening to others and getting the
