Creative writing achievement of the bachelor degree students learning Thai folk song and modern Thai song as aids Rajamanagala University of Technology Phra Nakhon.
Abstract
The purposes of this research were to : 1) compare creative writing achievement of students learning Thai Folk song and learning Thai Moders song as Aids ; 2) study the creative writing progress of the students in both groups by comparing between pretest scores and posttest scores ; find creative writing means scores and standanrd deviation of two student groups and find the percentages of the affective means scores and psychomotor means scores of the both groups.
Samples were 62 students at the first level of Bachelor Degree from two classrooms : 31 students of each, at Rajamangala University of Technology, during 2008 academic year. The basis on Using Thai Language One mean scores of two student groups were not significantly different at th .05 level. The students were equally divided into two experimental groups. The first group learned Thai Folk song as aids while the second group learned Thai Modern song as aids. The research tools consisted of creative writing pretests and posttests, instruments for development creative writing and creative writing lesson plans. The procedures were as following. Firstly, the creative writing achievement tests were administered to both groups of students as pretests. Secondly, sixteen creative writing lesson plans learning Thai Folk song as aids were given to the first experimental group while another sixteen creative writing lesson plans learning Thai Modern song as aids were given to the second experimental group. Finally, the creative writing achievement tests which were similar to the pretests were administered to both groups as posttests.
The results were as following. I) The creative writing achievement ofstudents learning Thai Folk song and leaming Thai Modem SOl,g as aids was not significantly different at the .05 level. 2) The mean scores of two student groups between pretests and posttests were significantly different at the .05 level. The posttest mean scores of both groups were higher than the pretest mean scores. 3) The averages of mean scores and standard deviations of students learning Thai Folk song as aids were 15.31 and 2.80 and another experimental group learning Thai Modem song as aids were 15.63 and 3.18 4) The percentages of the affective mean scores and psychomotor mean scores of students learning Thai Folk song as aids were 87.64 and 87.22 and another group learning Thai Modem song were 87.18 and 86.01, respectively.
